Bulldogs get area win over Wicksburg

The Pike County Bulldogs scored 24 second-quarter points in their dominating 63-23 win over area foe Wicksburg on Monday night.
The win for the Bulldogs brings their overall record on the season to 11-6 and their area record to 6-2.
“We played hard as a team,” said Bulldogs head coach Doug Holland. “ We talked about finishing up our play on a good performance as well as getting better as a team.”
The Patriots played their entire bench in Monday night’s win over the Panthers and had all 10 of them get on the scoreboard.
Juhmir Lampley led the Bulldogs in scoring with 12 points, while Xavier Nelson also scored in double-figures with 10. Elisha Green and Markis Harris tallied nine points while Jaiclyn Wilson scored six.
The Bulldogs held a 10-4 lead after the first quarter of play and really put the game out of reach in the second, when they outscored Wicksburg 24-8 to end the half holding a 34-12 lead.
The second half belonged to the Bulldogs, as they outscored the Lions 29-11 to give them the 40-point win.
The Bulldogs defense held the Leopards leading scorer, Kyle Arthur, to just eight points on the night.
The Bulldogs will look to gain win number 12 on the season when they travel to Elba to take on the Tigers beginning at 7 p.m.
