PCHS picks up win

The Pike County Lady Bulldogs picked up their second area win of the season in a 36-17 win over Houston Academy on Thursday.
The win for the Bulldogs brings their area record to 2-4 and with two area games remaining, the Bulldogs still have an opportunity to claim the the third seed in the upcoming area tournament.
Along with Precious Vaznaian and Keeyah Rodgers, the Bulldogs got production from seventh-grader Kyah Rouse who put up a team high 16 points.
“We really had a team effort,” said Bulldogs head coach Todd Reynolds. “We had some players step up. We knew they were going to key on Keeyah and Precious. They weren’t prepared for a seventh-grader to come out there and score points.”
Rouse scored eight of her team’s 11 points in the second quarter with six of them coming from behind the arc.
“Any good team usually has a triple threat,” Reynolds said. “We haven’t had that very often this year. She had 16 points, that’s a seventh grader. That is the future right there. We got a glimpse of it.”
Vaznaian finished with 12 points on the night, while Rodgers put in five.
