“It was just a slow game,” Jones said. “We had to adjust to the defense. They played a zone on us, and we just had to figure out way to play their defense.”

The Trojans outscored the Eagles 14-0 in the first quarter and after putting up eight points in the second held a 22-3 lead at the half.

“The defense looked really good,” Jones said. “The 1-2-2 zone was looking good. We looked pretty good.”

Maori Davenport took control in the second half and scored eight points in the third and fourth quarters. Combined with play of Niara Jones, the Trojans were able to keep the comfortable lead. Jones finished the contest leading the Trojans with 14 points, while Davenport finished 13.

The Trojans now face Northview in the area opener on Tuesday.

“We need to continue to work on our fundamentals,” Jones said. “We are still seeing some of the same mistakes but we won and are seeing a lot of positives and we will continue to try and work out our mistakes.”
