With a 6-1 record, dedicated Troy Trojan fans believe their team deserves more national recognition.

Ever since Troy knocked off in-state rival South Alabama last Thursday night, a fan driven account on Facebook named “Rank Troy’ has exploded in popularity. The 1:20 video featured on the page has been viewed over 100,000 times from people in 44 different states.

“I think its great to see all the attention that Troy is getting,” said Troy fan Jason Jones. “Obviously the goal of ‘Rank Troy’ is to get the attention of voters nationwide.”

The video has been shared by thousands of people that include Senator Cam Ward, Representative Chris Blackshear and Troy alumnus and CNN Correspondent Tom Foreman.

“I think it’s great publicity,” said Troy fan Brian Ross. “It tells me that they’re people out there that are excited for Troy football. It has been five plus years since that has really happened.”

The Trojans are currently undefeated in Sun Belt Conference play at 5-0 and their lone loss of the year came in the final minute on the road against third-ranked Clemson. The mission of the #RankTroy movement is to convince voters and sports fans that Troy belongs in the top 25 in both the AP and coach’s poll.

Early in the year Troy was trending No. 1 on Twitter for their performance against Clemson and with this fan page people are starting to take more notice of Trojan football.

“That is outstanding,” Ross said. “You are getting the name out there and the brand out there. You are getting the attention of fans out there and potential recruits. It’s the first step in taking Troy to the next level.”

“Looking at Troy’s remaining schedule, it will all play itself out,” Jones said. “If Appalachian State beats Georgia State we could see two teams ranked in the top 25 on November 12. That would be something very special that has never happened and may never happen in Troy again.”
