Sikorsky Troy Operations hosted its seventh annual Motorcycle Charity event on Saturday morning.

The main event was highlighted by a 90-mile ride through Pike, Crenshaw and Coffee County.  Each year Sikorsky donates the money to a community through their annual community giving campaign. This year’s donation went to Post 70 of American Legion (Pike County). “Yearly we do several fundraisers for our local community,” said Sikorsky Supervisor Greg Kiel. “We do a bike ride each year and we raise money each year It’s great. There is nothing like sitting back and putting your face into the wind.” Saturday’s event for the bikers in Pike County was all about giving back to the community. “We in the biking community like to come together and help one another out whenever there is a good cause,” said rider Richard Shaughnessy. “Sikorsky has had this ride for many years now and we all try and get involved and do our part.” “There are so many needs for people that don’t have the means, whether it be to raise money for someone’s house that burned down, the precious paws, or someone that lost a loved one,” Shaughnessy said.  “This is the one time, it doesn’t matter if you’re a brick layer, an engineer or a coach. We are bikers to raise money for a common cause.”  After the conclusion of the 90-mile bike ride the bikers along with families gathered to some food and fun at the Troy Recreation Center.
