The Goshen Eagles Junior Varsity team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 20-8 win over the Elba Tigers on Tuesday night.

“I was proud of all the guys,” said Eagles head coach Robbie Kinsaul. “We have been working on our defense and learning what they do on offense for the past two weeks. We did a really good job except for about two plays. We got lucky on one, but sometimes you have to be lucky to be good.”

Goshen scored on two long touchdown passes from quarterback Bryan Galloway to Randarius Maddox, one for 64 yards and another for 62 yards. The third touchdown came on a Galloway two-yard run.

The Tigers controlled the ball for much of the opening half, but the Eagles managed to go into the half with a 6-0 lead. The Eagles stretched out their lead to 12-0 in the third quarter with Maddox’s second reception. After the Tigers closed the gap at 12-8, Galloway clinched the game for the Eagles on his two-yard touchdown run with around 4:00 remaining in the ball game.

The Eagles will close out the season by hosting county rival Pike County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

“We are going to practice this week and Monday to get ready,” Kinsaul said. “We know that Pike County has a really good football team. Like last year, we have gotten better each week. We know it’s going to be a tough game, but we are looking forward to it.”
