The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans lost their first area match of the season on Monday.

Brewbaker Tech won in straight sets 9-25, 17-25, 13-25.

The Trojans entered Monday’s match undermanned due to injuries and that proved challenging for communication.

“We are struggling in the area of communication,” said Trojan head coach Jennifer Sikes. “When we were on we were on. We had some blocks tonight and we had some kills.  We just can’t get into a rhythm and keep it going. We will make a play and look really good, and the next one we just fall off.”

Abigail Salmon led the Trojans with four kills. Lindsey Fox, Mykyia Milton, Sydney Watson, Tanner Moore and Salmon all finished with two points on the night.

Both Milton and Salmon finished with one ace.

The Trojans will continue area play today when they take on G.W. Long. They will have a tournament on Saturday before closing out the regular season.

“We have to continue to get better for post season play,” Sikes said.  “This group of girls has that potential. I believe that my staff and I have done a really good job preparing them. They just have to execute it.

The junior varsity team begins play at 4:30 p.m. today.
