The top ranked Elba Tigers were too much to handle for Goshen on Friday, handing the Eagles their first regional loss at 30-9.
Eagles quarterback Brock Snyder finished the game 6-16 for 181 yards and a touchdown, while Zack Alford had caught three passes for 138 yards and a touchdown.
The Tigers got on the board first in the opening quarter when Dee Williams ran the ball into the end zone from three yards out. Dervorian Wilkerson tacked on a two-point conversion to give the Tigers the 8-0 lead late in the first.
The Tigers scored again with 9:27 in the second quarter on a 17-yard run by Williams, who also added the two-point conversion to give the Eagles a 16-0 lead.
The Eagles scored late in the second quarter when Snyder connected with Alford on a 77-yard touchdown pass. A failed two-point conversion left the score at 16-6.
The Eagles came out in the second half and made it a one possession game after Brian Redmon connected on a 30-yard field goal to bring the score to 16-9 with 10:17 remaining in the third quarter.
That would be the closest the Eagles would get on Friday night. The Tigers answered with a one-yard touchdown by Williams, his third and a two point conversion reception by Jay Jordan to give Elba a 24-9 lead at the 7:56 mark of the third quarter.
The Tigers closed out the scoring when Wilkerson had a 38-yard run with 3:13 remaining to bring the score to 30-9.
The Eagles (3-1 and 2-1 in the region) host Houston Academy at 7 p.m. Friday.
