For the second time this week, all three of the Goshen Eagles volleyball teams swept the Luverne Tigers.

The junior high Eagles won 26-24 and 25-17; junior varsity, 25-17 and 25-16; and the varsity team, 25-9, 25-10 and 25-10. The varsity (6-6) moves to 2-0 in area play.

“They looked good,” said Eagles head coach Amy Warrick. “They came out with a lot of energy. They continued with what we have been working on. I am proud of all three teams tonight.”

In the second match of the night with the junior varsity squad, Briona Burden finished with five aces, eight points scored and 13 assists. Molly Wares contributed three aces, five points scored, three kills and two digs.

Back-to-back area wins for the varsity was a big statement, Warrick said.

“It was big,” Warrick said. “It’s kind of hard to get up and play with energy. I don’t know if they realize how big it is. I know how big it is, we talk to them about where we want to be in the area.”

Selena Ellis had four aces, 14 points scored, one kill and 16 assists. Jada Hall finished with two aces, 12 points scored and 13 kills. Kate Warrick finished with one ace, six points scored and 14 assist.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when head to a tournament in Kinston. They face Brantley at 9 a.m. in pool play.
