Reynolds to coach PCHS volleyball

When the Pike County Lady Bulldogs volleyball team hits the court they will do so under new head coach Todd Reynolds.

Reynolds, who coached the Lady Bulldogs basketball team last year, is taking over for Shea Driggers.

“It’s an opportunity to coach something that I have coached before,” Reynolds said. “It’s something that I get to coach again.”

Some of the players will be familiar from the basketball team, but Reynolds also is looking forward to learning the new players.

“I have some players that play both basketball and volleyball,” Reynolds said. “They have an insight as to my style of coaching. Maybe they can help the other ones get adjusted to the knew philosophy.”

Reynolds hopes to keep everything simple.

“I have some pretty good spikers that we want to feed the ball to,” Reynolds said. “You want to be able to send the ball over with authority and when you don’t you set the other team up.”

This will be Reynolds third stop as a volleyball coach. He previously worked at Marion Academy and Escambia Academy.

Pike County will be in a new area come 2016, with opponents including Houston Academy and Providence.

“I think it’s realistic for us to battle for that second playoff spot,” Reynolds said. “We are as athletic if not more than athletic than anyone we play.owing the scheme and e
