The Troy Dixie Boys struggled to contain the heavy team from Enterprise and fell 19-7 to end their run in the district tournament.

The Troy Dixie Boys’ run in the district tournament came to an end Thursday evening with a 19-7 loss to Enterprise.

Troy struggled with Enterprise in the early innings. Enterprise sent seven men to the plate and jumped on Troy for four early runs and took a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the first inning.

Enterprise once again went on the offensive in the second inning. Enterprise had five hits, including a homerun, to help stretch their lead to 9-0.

From there Troy tried to get back in the game. They managed to score in the second inning on walks by Javaris McNair and Holt Steed. Caden Bryan reached on an error in between the two walks and three runs came around to score.

Enterprise answered in the top of third with four runs of their own to increase their lead to 13-3.

With time running out, Troy made one final push to get back in the game. Troy scored four runs in the third inning, one of which came on a lead off homerun by Logan Johnson. McNair, Bryan and Steed also came in to score in the inning.

That would be as close as Troy would get. Enterprise scored six runs in the inning to end the game after Troy went 1-2-3 in the bottom half of the fourth.

Troy finished the game with hits by Johnson and Steed. They also had seven base runners reach base via walks.
