“The kids were excited to finally get in the batters box and some live pitching,” head coach Drew Nelson said. “We didn’t see overpowering pitching, but it was good to see everybody hitting the ball hard.”

Troy added four more runs in the second inning on two more homeruns off the bat of Sparrow, his second of the game, and Lee.

Troy had five players with multiple hits in the win: Nelson, Sparrow, Kidd and Braisted all finished with two hits while Darryl had three hits to lead the way for Troy.

“Hitting is contagious,” Nelson said. “Everybody got a case of it tonight. Hopefully it will continue tomorrow night when we face a good Andalusia team.”

Troy starter Jefcoat pitched two out of the three innings and allowed one run on three hits and he struck out one. Adrian Cardwell came and mopped up the remaining inning, he let up three hits and a walk, but struck out three batters in his lone inning of work.

The Troy Ozone team will be back in action on Friday when they take on host Andalusia at 7:30 p.m.
