The Charles Henderson Trojans scored in all five innings and rolled to an easy 15-4 win over area foe Greenville on Wednesday.

“Our guys came ready to play today,” said Trojans head coach William Teal. “We had some good at bats today. They didn’t give us much to hit, we had a lot of walks, but we played pretty well.”

Jackson Murphy led the way offensively for the Trojans going 3-3 at the plate with a homerun and three RBIs. Chase Hartley also had a productive night going 2-3 with three RBIs.

In all the Trojans finished with 10 hits during the game.

“We took what they gave us,” Teal said. “We moved around the bases well tonight, knowing that we probably were going to be able to do that. When we got opportunities we did what we were supposed to do.”

Grant Hughes took the rubber for the Trojans and went the distance, pitching all five innings and allowing four runs, three of which were earned on 10 hits.

“He ended up throwing around 80 pitches tonight,” Teal said. “It’s too many for five innings, but he had one big inning. When he was good it was because he was getting ahead of batters. It’s good to see someone like Grant going out there and filling up the zone.”

Bryson Gandy began the first inning with a walk and later scored on a wild pitch. Nick Lewis, who also walked, came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Jackson Murphy. Charlie Tisdale singled to score Hartley before the at-bat ended.

The big inning came in the second, when the Trojans put up five runs.

Lewis hit a single scoring Graham Wilkes and Jabronski Williams. After Gandy scored on a Hartley groundout, Lewis scored on a wild pitch. Then Murphy blasted a homerun to make the score 8-0.

The Trojans added one in the third on a wild pitch and two more in the fourth on an error and a walk.

Charles Henderson broke the 10-run threshold in the fifth inning when they added four runs. Lewis, Hartley and Murphy all had run-producing hits.

The Trojans and Tigers will finish off their series on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. today at Hogan’s Hole.
