Eagles fall in region championship

The Goshen Eagle’s run at a region championship came to an end Tuesday in a 44-43 overtime loss to St. Luke’s.

The Eagles kept pace with St. Luke’s for the majority of the contest. They were tied 10-10 entering the second quarter and heading into the locker room at halftime they trailed by just one at 19-18. The teams ended regulation play tied a 40, and St. Luke’s edged the Eagles, scoring 4-3 in overtime.

Michael Hollis led the Eagles in scoring with 23 points while Caleb Dawson finished with seven points and eight rebounds.

For their play in regional tournament, both Zach Alford and Hollis were named to the all tournament team. Hollis finished the two-game tournament averaging 19 points per game and Alford finished with 10.

With the loss the Eagles close out their season with an 18-12 record.
