“I thought they bounced back,” said Bulldogs head coach Doug Holland. “They were really excited about playing in an in-school game. They weren’t down about last night’s game.”

The Bulldogs had control from the opening tip and stormed out to a 26-6 lead after the first quarter. “Overall we played well and balanced,” Holland said.

The defense was able to utilize the trap game and force Cottonwood to turn over the basketball.

“We were able to get some younger guys in the game and they gave us a spark,” Holland said. “Our trapping in the second quarter picked up our tempo and we sped them up.”

With the win the Bulldogs improve their record to 12-8 on the season.

The Lady Bulldogs followed with a win of their own on Friday after noon 43-28 over Cottonwood. The win improves the Lady Bulldogs’ record to 4-19 which doubles their wins over last year.

Precious Vaznaian led the Bulldogs with 28 points and 12 steals.

“We started out slow, which has been our problem all year,” said head coach Todd Reynolds. “We did a real good at pressuring the ball. We went to our full court press and forced 27 turnovers.”

Both the Pike County boys and girls will be back in action on Monday for senior night against G.W. Long, with the girls tipping off at 5:30 p.m. and the boys following shortly after.
