Trojans smack Hornets

The No. 3 Charles Henderson Lady Trojans held the Bullock County Hornets to just four first half points Friday en route to 46-17 win.
The opportunistic Trojan defense was on top of the Hornets making it difficult for the Hornets to successfully shoot.
“We did a great job playing defense,” said Trojan head coach Dyneshia Jones. “We have been working on that all week. They all did a great job helping their teammates out.”
The Trojans’ success this season has been a result of strong shooting from just outside the paint. Maori Davenport, India Blakely, Niaira Jones and Tatyana Siler all contributed on Friday.
Siler, who has been a key for the Trojans, finished with 10 strong first half points as the Trojans took a 22-0 run to a 27-4 lead at the half.
Siler has been forced to step up as opponents have focused on Blakely and Davenport.
“That’s going to happen a lot,” Jones said. “Teams are going to try and stop Maori. Tatyana really stepped up for us tonight. She was making jump shots and making layups.”
Siler’s strong play comes as no surprise for Jones after watching her perform at practice.
“She is a hard worker,” Jones said. “She just tries to get better before every game.”
Siler led the Trojans in scoring with 14 points on the evening. Davenport finished with eight points. The Trojans will be back in action again on Tuesday when they travel to take on Rehobeth.
