The Lady Trojans used their strong offensive attack in a 60-29 win over the Barbour County Jaguars Tuesday evening. It was the second game in a row which the Trojans defeated Barbour County.

The third-ranked Charles Henderson Lady Trojans chalked up another win as they defeated the Barbour County Jaguars 60-29 on Tuesday.

“It was a great win,” said Trojans head coach Dyneshia Jones. “We beat them by about the same as we did in our last game. It was a great effort by my girls.”

Even though the Lady Trojans defeated Barbour County on Friday, Jones knew they would be challenged by a lineup full of shooters who can make shots from long range.

“I told them not to underestimate them,” Jones said. “They are a good three point shooting team and that showed in the second half. They hit a lot of three-pointers in the second half.”

Because of the Trojans’ dominating size, opponents have taken to long.

“You have to really watch when they are shooting, especially with how far they are shooting,” Jones said. “You have to keep your hands up, but at the same time make sure they don’t try to penetrate.”

The Lady Trojans scored 16 points in the opening frame, led by Niaira Jones who finished with six points in the quarter. The Trojans outscored the Jaguars 12-7 in the second period and led 28-7 at the half.

The Jaguars attempted a second-half comeback, connecting on six three-pointers. It wasn’t enough to match the Lady Trojans’ 32 second-half points, though.

“I tell them to stay humble,” Jones said. “I got on them, even though we were up Barbour County was hitting a lot of shots at the end. I told them that if they don’t feel angry with them making all those three’s then we are going to have a problem. Winning these games right here is nothing compared to how hard it’s going to be later in the year.”

India Blakely led the way for the Trojans finishing with 12 points while Maori Davenport and Tatyana Siler both had 12. Niaira Jones also finished in double figures with 10 points.

The Trojans will have their next big test of the year Thursday night when they take on Enterprise at 4:30 p.m.
