PLAS JV defeats FT. Dale

The Pike Liberal Patriots Junior Varsity team defeated Fort Dale 38-14 Tuesday, improving their record to 3-0 on the season.
The Patriots had to battle an injury to starting quarterback Jade Sikes, who left the game early with a leg injury.
“It was a very tight hard-fought ball game. Fort Dale has a very good team,” said Patriot head coach Wes Allen. “It was a great football game and fun to be a part of.”
The Patriots got the scoring started early in the first quarter when Davis Allen, who came in to play quarterback for Sikes, handed the ball off to Jackson Blair. Blair scored on a 15-yard run.
Fort Dale was able to answer quickly on a 4-yard touchdown run. Fort Dale failed on their two-point conversion attempt bringing the score to 8-6.
The Patriot offense kept on rolling and they were able to score the next three touchdowns starting with a 75-yard kick off return by Allen.
Trevor Barron scored the Patriots third touchdown of the game on a run from five yards out.
Allen and the Patriot offense didn’t stop there. Allen was able to run from 25 yards out to give the Patriots a commanding lead.
After Fort Dale score their second touchdown of the night, the Patriots closed out the scoring on a 52-yard touchdown run by Blair.
The Patriots finished the game with 252 yards of total offense while letting up 167 yards on defense.
Blair led the Patriots in rushing with 140 yards on the night. On the defensive side of the ball Cody Hollis, Reid Johnson and Max Copeland all finished the game with five tackles.
After starting 3-0 the Patriots will now look ahead to next Tuesday when they host Autauga. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
