Monroe Academy outpaces PLAS

Pike Liberal Arts fell behind early Friday, losing 56-7 to Monroe Academy.
The Patriots gave up 21 points in both the first and second quarters, sending them to halftime trailing 42-7.
Monroe Academy scored on a 90 touchdown to get the game started. The Patriots were able to answer fairly quickly when quarterback Reed Jinright connected with Dakota McDonald on a 51-yard touchdown pass, evening the score at 7-7 midway through the first quarter.
Things spiraled downhill from there for the Patriots as Monroe Academy scored touchdowns on their next five possessions, putting the game out of reach for the Patriots.
The Patriots scored only one touchdown on the night but were able to get some contributions from some of their players.
Adam Grice led the team in rushing finishing with 55 yards on just five carries. His longest carry of the evening was 55 yards.
McDonald led the Patriots in receiving on Friday night with 57 yards and a touchdown while Marquese Christian finished with 39 yards.
JInright led the two Patriot quarterbacks, finish finished 9-23 for 99 yards.
Jarrett Jordan led the defense in tackles with six. Trent Orum, Tyler Hussey and Josh Graham all finished with four tackles.
After the loss the Patriots even up their season record at 2-2. Next week the Patriots will continue their road stretch when they travel to Selma to take on Morgan Academy in the second straight region game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
