The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots kicked off their fall sports season with a “Meet the Patriots” Rally Friday night on DeWight Ward Field.

Patriots’ Booster Club President John Ramage said the event was always fun for parents, athletes and faculty members.

“It’s always a fun event,” Ramage said. “A lot of times this is the first time the little peoples have put on the red, white and blue. It’s exciting to see all the sports kick off. The volleyball team has already started playing. We’re excited to have our band over here tonight and they’ll be at every ball game. We’re excited for our football, cheerleading volleyball and dance teams. We’re proud of them all.”

Ramage highlighted several projects the booster club has been working on

Announced the installation of new scoreboards for the gymnasium, softball and baseball fields and for the football field.

“Just to give you a rough estimate, it’ll be about as high as the flag pole,” Ramage said. “So we’re upgrading just a little bit.”

Ramage said the booster club also hoped to renovate the baseball press box, the concession stand and hoped to put in an indoor hitting facility.

Ramage said there were several ways that Patriot fans could keep informed with the booster club as well as PLAS athletics.

“A couple of ways to stay informed all things Pike, if you’re on twitter we are at @piekpatriots,” Ramage said. “We do an email blast that goes out a lot, and if you aren’t on that send your information to pike.patriots@gmail.com. We’ll get you added to keep you updated on all things Pike. We also have an athletic blog that can be accessed on pikelib.com.”
