With the start of the fall semester at Troy University just days a way, Mac Delorme, Chas Windhan, and Eric Wilbert were taking a break from the unpacking and organizing to play disc golf around the Troy University campus.

“Friends of ours kind of made a makeshift course and passed it down to us,” Windhan said on Sunday. “We are just trying to keep it going and keep the tradition alive.”

From playing around the quad and going in and around the fountain, to just throwing the disc back and forth, the three of them just like spending time outdoors playing the sport they love.

“It’s just a good time to be out spending time with friends and throwing a Frisbee or disc as hard as you can,” Delorme said. “You can always invite someone new to come play for the first time. It’s a great way to come out and meet the community.”

The three of them like to play at least once a week around campus. Ultimately, they’d like to see an official disc golf course created for Troy.

“It would be really cool especially since they have all this new developing landscape,” Delorme said. “If they would put something like this around campus it would be a attraction for sure.”

Being in the afternoon sunshine and hanging out with the friends is the biggest draw to the activity for these three.

“It’s nice out here. It feels to be outside in nature,” Wilbert said. “We love to be outside and hanging out with friends.

Another draw to the sport for these three players is that anyone can play disc golf whether you’re a pro or a novice disc golf is for everybody.

“Everybody can come out and play, it doesn’t matter if your grew up playing it or not its something you can get into,” Wilbert said. “You don’t have to have a certain build or skill set its for everybody. Whether you have grown up playing it or not you can come out and hone your skills.”
