The Troy Belles continued their offensive ways Tuesday night and ran away with the District Championship defeating Opp 19-0 in Greenville.

In a tournament season that has yet to provide a challenge for the Belles, head coach Larry Sanders has been very pleased with what his team has been able to accomplish both offensively and as a pitching staff.

“They have to keep going at it,” Sanders said. “We really need to start playing small ball and try to get these runners to score. Our pitching has done really well we just need to focus on getting better on our hitting.”

The Belles have been able to rely on three starting pitchers the entire season, which has helped as they’ve been able stay fresh throughout the summer.

The Belles entered this tournament season with a plethora of experience that Sanders and the Belles have relied on all season long.

“We have a real talented group,” Sanders said. “All twelve girls can play multiple positions. We have four to five pitchers, so having that pitching depth should be good for us. We should also be a real good hitting team. We have a lot of girls that have the power to hit the ball out.”

The Belles have finished both the Sub-District and District Tournaments undefeated. They have done so by scoring nearly 20 runs a game against opposing teams.

The Belles have outscored their opponents overall in the two tournaments 105-10.

“We are really hitting the ball, and everyone is really doing their job,” Sanders said. “We have been able to bunt some and we have a lot of girls that can hit for power.”

The Belles with the win advance to play in the State tournament starting on July 10 in Enterprise.
