“I was really pleased about Saturday. I thought we did really well,” Bowen said. “I thought we have made a lot of improvements, and we have a couple of contenders this year to go to state.”

The Tiger Sharks will have just over a week before they host a practice meet on June 18.

“We will need to work on starts as well as our flip turns,” Bowen said. “Right now our starts are kind of hurting us. We need to get better, that will shave some time off for us. … We plan on practicing that a lot this week and putting more emphasis on it. We have gotten into shape, we just need to work on out technique now.”

Bowen said the Tiger Sharks are looking forward to the opportunity to swim in front of their home fans.

“We are excited because we won’t have to travel,” Brown said. “I think they are ready to have a meet at home, so people from around here can come see what they are all about.”

The June 18 meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the Troy Sportsplex Outdoor Pool.

The Tiger Sharks will conclude their pre-District schedule in Andalusia on June 23. District competition will be held at the Troy Sportsplex on July 11. If the team or any of the swimmers qualify, the state meet will be held in Birmingham July 23-25.
