Trojans fall to Eagles

Carroll shut out the CHHS Lady Trojans 6-0 on Tuesday, but head coach Karen Kerfoot said her team continues to make great strides.

“On defense we just came up short tonight,” Kerfoot said. “We keep improving every game. I am not disappointed in my girls. As long as they give it 100 percent on that field that is all I can ask for.”

The Trojans had their chances to put the ball in the back of the net, but couldn’t connect.

“The strength we need to kick it hard and far wasn’t there,” Kerfoot said. “We are just going to keep giving it our all and try again.”

One player that did step up for the Trojans was goalie Breanna Guice. Although the Eagles scored six goals on the night, Guice’s play in net kept the game that close throughout the night.

“She saved our butts,” Kerfoot said. “They took I don’t know how many shots at her and they scored six goals. I have to give her props because they didn’t get it past her a lot.”

In just their second season of fielding an all-girls team, the Trojans are still looking for that first win and focusing on improvements.

“We are much improved,” Kerfoot said. “Last year this game would have been 10-0 in the first half. We tied Dothan this year so we have come a long way and each game we get better and better.

“And I know once the season gets over we will have a couple wins under our belt.”

The Lady Trojans will play Montgomery Catholic at Trinity on Thursday.
