Patriots beat ACA in tourney

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots wrapped up the Abbeville Christian Academy Holiday basketball tournament with a 57-51 win over host Abbeville Christian Academy on Saturday.

The Patriots started the tournament with a 61-43 loss to Edgewood on Friday.

The Patriots received plenty of scoring production in Saturday’s win including team-leading scorer Hunter Jones who finished with 16 points on the night. Marquese Christian kept up his stellar play as of late with 10 points. Patrick O’Brian finished the game with eight points and John David Cox finished with six. Dakota McConnell and Ethan Green both contributed five.

Marquese Christian was named to the All-Tournament team. During the tournament, Christian finished the two games with a total of 23 points. In the last four games including the two in Abbeville, Christian has scored 39 points and he has averaged 10 points per game during that stretch.

With the win the Patriots improve their record to 6-5 on the season.

Area play begins Jan. 5 when they make the trip to Greenville to take on the Fort Dale Academy Eagles .
