The Zion Chapel Rebels improved their home record to 2-0 and their overall record to 2-4 Friday night after defeating Calhoun 35-22 on homecoming.

The Rebels have played just two regular season home games in 2015 and although overall record leaves much to be desired they are perfect in front of their home fans.

“We have played really well at home this year, so that’s a plus,” said Rebels coach Bradley Bowers. “It’s always nice to win at home. We told them there is nothing like winning on homecoming.”

The Rebels relied on a running attack that has been so prevalent in the early going of the season to get that win.

“We were able to run the football,” Bowers said. “We got into a little bit of trouble in the first half and had to try to throw the ball when we didn’t want to throw it. In the second half we didn’t get in those situations where needed to throw the football. We were able to move the ball and run the clock.”

The Rebels were led in rushing by senior Chase Peoples who finished with 154 yards on the ground while scoring three touchdowns. Quarterback Justin Mobley also ran well, rushing for 50 yards on nine caries while scoring a touchdown.

Next week the Rebels will hit the road for the final time when they travel to play New Brockton, who currently sit at 5-1, 3-1. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Gamecock Stadium.
