Residents of Troy are slowly but surely applying for loan assistance after the Christmas night tornadoes.

Representatives for the Small Business Administration in Troy this week have taken quite a few applications from residents who are still in need.

“We have not received any responses yet, it usually takes about 10 to 14 business days for a response,” said John Mahoney, SBA representative.

Mahoney said people are slowly coming in, but the majority of the applications consists of home disaster loans.

The quality of documents and the necessary credit history is what generally takes up the most time. If there are additional documents needed, a representative will contact the applicant.

“If you are unable to come in person, you are able to apply over the phone or online, but a representative is more than willing to help you through,” Mahoney said.

This is the final week SBA representatives will be in Pike County.

Local assistance will be available at the Troy Public Library until Saturday at 3 p.m.
