Alabama’s state Agriculture Department is urging consumers to check their kitchen pantries for nut butter products that could be contaminated with salmonella.

Sunland, Inc. is voluntarily recalling about 100 products, including almond and peanut butter, sold in Alabama Kroger, Target, Walmart and Publix stores.

The Agriculture Department is also warning consumers that there could be other stores that carry Sunland products.

The company, in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, began recalling the products after 29 people in about 18 states were reported sick from Salmonella in relation to consumption of Sunland products.

Affected products were manufactured between May 1 and Sept. 24. The products have “best if used by” dates between May 1, 2013 and Sept. 24, 2013.

Sunland says the products can be returned to stores they were purchased from for a full refund.
