As Troy fans file into Sartain Hall to take in the atmosphere of the arena’s final game, head coach Don Maestri will be looking to keep his team’s focus in order to win a basketball game.

“It has the potential to elevate the quality of basketball,” Maestri said. “Our players need to focus on playing a good game because we’re not having a very good season.”

The Trojans (8-16, 3-10) are coming off an 83-59 loss to a hot-shooting Arkansas State squad. The Red Wolves burned the net, knocking down 56 percent of their shots including 11-21 from three-point range.

It wasn’t the Trojans worst shooting performance. Troy converted on 48 percent of its shots. Steven Cunningham scored a career-high 14 points in the loss.

The Trojans will now turn their attention to another group of Trojans, the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans. UALR (13-14, 10-3) leads the Sun Belt West Division having knocked off a 19-8 Denver squad twice and Louisiana-Lafayette on the road.

“They came into league play not project to do all that much,” Maestri said. “They have beaten some good teams both at home and on the road. They have done an outstanding job.”

The Trojans will again turn to point guard Will Weathers to kick start them to a victory. Weathers leads the team in scoring with 11.6 points per game. The junior also heads the Sun Belt Conference in assists with 5.8 per contest.

Though Troy’s three-point shooting has cooled of late, the team still ranks fifth nationally averaging nine three-pointer a game but has converted just 16 in the past three contests.

Troy, who is 468-180 in Sartain Hall, will host UALR for the fist time since 2008.

The women’s team will kick off the finale in their home arena at 5:15p.m. The men will follow at 7:30p.m.
