When shopping for that special gift that says exactly how much a person means to one’s life, it’s often difficult to find that "perfect" gift.

But, the Colley Senior Complex has a gift in mind that just might be perfect for your loved one," said Judy Thornton, a volunteer at the senior center. "A gift on the Golden Tree of Love is a wonderful way to honor a loved one or as a memorial to someone who has been special in your life."

The Golden Tree of Love is located in the lobby of the Colley Senior Complex on Elm Street and will be there as long as the building stands, Thornton said.

"Everyone who comes in the senior center sees the tree and it’s a wonderful way to keep the memory of a loved one alive or to honor a family member, a friend, a teacher – just anyone who has had made an impact on your life," Thornton said.

Family or individual recognitions may add a leaf or an acorn to the Golden Tree of Love or pieces to the trunk itself.

Leaves are $250; acorns are $500 and trunk pieces are $1,000.

The proceeds from the Golden Tree of Love help support the Colley Senior Complex and are very much appreciated because they enhance the many programs and activities at the senior center, Thornton said.

"Those who would like to dedicate a room

to someone may do so for different amounts," she said. "The center has many ways to honor loved ones and to support the center. Senior Citizen Supports are $25 and they are donations that help make it possible to maintain the programs we have and add new ones."

The center also has a "Wish Book" and participants may donate items they have that would be of value or use to the senior center or they may select an item(s) from a prepared list.

Anyone who is interested in recognizing a loved one by adding to the Golden Tree of Love or who would like to support the senior complex during the holiday season may do so by calling 808-8500 or visiting the Colley Senior Complex on Elm Street.
