Brundige council makes right move

Published 12:00 am Sunday, January 6, 2002

Yesterday, the Brundidge City Council did a good thing by giving the go-ahead to the Commuinity Theater Company of Brundidge and allowing them to use the old town hall building to put on a play for the members of the community.

The play is sure to be a success, because this area has produced such talent down through the years, it could be nothing but a success.

The members of the Brundidge City Council should be commended for their efforts to support the arts by turning an otherwise useless building into a unique place for stage productions by local theater groups or high school students.

Those in Brundidge working so hard to make this production a reality should also be commended. They saw what they wanted and went after it full force, applying for grants and negotiating with the city leaders to get the space they needed to produce a work of art.

They have also worked diligently to recruit quality people to produce, direct and write music for the play.

Those involved still have a long way to go and a short time to get there, with production planned for the first two weekends in April. There will certainly be a lot of late nights and a lot of sweat on the brows of those involved before it is all over with.

Great things come to those who wait and now that the waiting is over, we are sure to see a grand production by those who have worked so hard to bring it to us. Surely, there won’t be enough tickets to go around once the curtain

opens.
