Two teens have been arrested in connection with the Jan. 9 robbery of the Amoco station on U.S. 87, near the intersection of U.S. 231.

Daryl Watson, 17, and Antawin C. Peavy, 19, both of Troy, were taken into custody Tuesday morning, Troy Police Chief Anthony Everage said.

Watson was arrested at approximately 8:20 a.m. at Royal Oaks Trailer Park. Peavy was arrested around 11 a.m. at Southland Village Trailer Park.

"The officers involved in both arrests did an excellent job apprehending Watson and Peavy with no incident," Everage said.

Although Watson is 17, he is charged as an adult because of the severity of the crime.

Bond was set at $50,000 apiece with 10 percent of the amount to be paid in cash before release.

They were transferred to the Pike County Jail Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. Jan. 9, officers from the Troy Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at the convenience store.

Two suspects ­ one armed with a pistol and onearmed with a knife ­ took an undisclosed amount of money after injuring the convenience store clerk.

Everage said the clerk suffered non-life-threatening injuries after reportedly being struck in the head.

"We believe she was struck in the head with the blunt end of the knife," Everage said, adding there were no customers in the store at the time of the incident.

The clerk was transported by Haynes ambulance to Edge Regional Medical Center for treatment and was released in stable condition.

Both suspects reportedly fled on foot in the direction of the residential area behind the Amoco station.

Detectives continue to investigate the case and follow up on leads connected with it.
