My Grown-Up Christmas List

Published 2:07 pm Thursday, December 22, 2011

Wes Johnson, Thomas Graning and I were just discussing the Letters to Santa the Messenger received this year. We’ve been typing them in. Some have made us laugh, some are very sincere in a child’s wish for another’s happiness.

Then I started thinking. If I were writing Santa this year, what would I ask for?

It’s funny how your priorities change. As an adult, clothes and kitchen gadgets have occasionally made their way to things I’ve wanted. But those were never items I could have ever imagined writing Santa for.

This year, if I were to write to Santa, I think my letter would look something like the one below.

Dear Santa,
My mother always told me that as long as I believed in you, you’d visit. That’s why I may be the only 32-year-old who still believes in Santa.

I’d like to say I’ve been good all year, but I don’t want to fib to you. I’ve slipped on occasion. However, I have done my best to be a good person. And I adopted a shelter dog this year. So I have done good deeds.

This year, I have most everything I want. I have a family and friends who love me, a fiance who adores me, some furry critters to share our home with and a job that I love. Life has been good.

However, I would ask that you bring me one thing. $1 million would be enough to get me by until next Christmas.

Saturday before I go to bed, I’ll leave you some cookies and almond milk out, and carrots for the reindeer.

I love you Santa,
Robbyn

P.S. I would also like world peace.
