Good Morning, Pike County: We did a lot

Good morning and good Tuesday! Last week was busy for a lot of people around Pike County.

Threatening skies didn't keep hundreds of people away from the first-ever Troy Fest Saturday, although lightening shut down the works around 5:30.

Thousands turned out for opening-day ceremonies at the SportsPlex. The Troy Rec League this year boasts nearly 100 teams, and the baseball action is already heating up.

The 65-mile Poker Run raised nearly $1,300 for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pike County.

The Five-year old Pioneer Music Day was a raving success, as always - not to mention a toe-tappin' good time. The Civil War exhibit also drew a good crowd at the museum on Saturday.

Troy State's own Dr. James Whiteside had a fast one pulled on him when he was named Sportsmedicine Person of the Year by Southeast Athletic Trainers Association. He thought he was attending the meeting just to deliver a speech.

The war in Iraq seemed to be winding down as coalition forces moved into the outskirts, and finally the city of Baghdad, which is a bright spot for those of us in Pike County with loved ones who are now a step closer to coming home.
