On Thursday, the Troy City School Board will be down to their last candidate.

Since Monday, the board has been engrossed in the interview process, which includes breakfast, a tour of the campuses, lunch, the official two-hour interview and a public reception.

Thursday will mark their fourth and final one.

William Capehart, the superintendent of Boyd County Public Schools in Ashland, Ky., will travel to Troy and add his qualifications to the list of consideration.

Capehart has spent over 30 years in the public school system in West Virginia and Kentucky.

His teaching experience includes one year as an elementary teacher and three years as a junior and senior high special education instructor in West Virginia.

In 1972, he moved to the central office, where he worked until 1997 in both West Virginia and Kentucky.

For several of those years, he served as the West Virginia Department of Education Assistant State Director of Special Education.

He has been in his current position since 1997.

Capehart earned a bachelor's degree at West Virginia Institute of Technology and a master's degree at Marshall University.

He also has a doctorate of education from West Virginia University.

Capehart's interview will be in council chambers at City Hall and broadcast on Troy Cable Channel 52 on Thursday from 2-4 p.m.

A public reception will follow at City Hall.
