Johnny Witherington has announced his intention to run for re-election to represent District Four on the Tory City County in the Aug. 24 municipal election.

Witherington was first elected to the Troy City Commission in 1984, which became the Troy City Council when the form of government changed in 1985. He has been re-elected in 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000.

"It has been meaningful to serve with a mayor and council that has worked extremely well together for our community," Witherington said. "The citizens of Troy expect us to provide responsible leadership, efficient municipal services and to be wise stewards of our tax dollars. It is our job to see that we do so, and when I am re-elected, I will work to see that it stays that way."
