Madeline Lillian Taylor

Madeline Lillian Taylor, a resident of Ashford, died Wednesday, October 27, 2004, at Dale Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 82.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2004, at Antioch Baptist Church near Ashford, with Revs. John Smith, Danny Bynum and Gregory Aman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home form 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday. At other times the family will be at the home of Diane and Gregory Aman, 2232 A.B. Stubbs Road in Ozark. Mrs. Taylor will be placed in the church one hour before service time on Friday.

Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church.

She was born Feb. 13, 1922 in Huntington, Long Island, New York, and lived the early years of her life there. She was employed as a seamstress at Wex-Tex for many years. She lived in the Dupree community in Ashford for more than 45 yeas and was a member of the Ashford Senior Citizens Nutrition Center. She was a very active member of Antioch Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles William Taylor; a son, Steve Ellis Taylor; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Malico; four brothers, James Malico, Patrick Malico, John J. Malico and Armando Malico.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Diane T. Aman and her husband, Rev. Gregory S. Aman, Ozark; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Tatum Taylor, Clarksville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Jonathan Chadwick Aman and wife, Karen Andrews Aman, Ozark, Steven Bradley Taylor, San Marcos, Texas, and Joshua Lee Taylor, Ozark; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carmine Malico and wife, Virginia, Spokane, Wash., and Anthony Malico and wife, June, Winter Springs, Fla.; a sister, Carmellia (Millie) Savarese and husband, Dominick, Huntington, L.I., N.Y.; sisters-in-law, Grace Malico, Bronxville, N.Y., Nancy Malico, Huntington, L.I., N.Y., Claire Malico, Centerport, L.I., N.Y., Rosemary Malico, Huntington, L.I., N.Y.; many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Sam Maulden

Services for Sam Maulden, 59, of Brundidge who died Tuesday, October 26, 2004 in Brundidge will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Brundidge with Revs. Shirlie Ellis and John Emfinger officiating.

There will be a thirty minute lie-in-state prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge officiating.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Julie Ann Maulden and Mark Clark of Auburn and Ashley Nicole Maulden of Brundidge; parents, Paul and Lois Maulden of Brundidge; grandchildren, Clayton Clark, Joshua Clark and Griffin Clark; sisters and brothers-in-law; Mary Paul and Seale Mobley of Niceville, Florida and Glenda and Huey Campbell of Georgetown, Georgia and several nieces and nephews.

Bessie Pearl Chapman

Bessie Pearl Chapman, 92, of the Tennille community died Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at her home.

Services will be Thursday, October 28, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church in Tennille, with Rev. John Emfinger and Chaplain Don Grantham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She will lie in state two hours prior to the service.

Visitation was Wednesday, October 27, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. at Skeen Funeral Home in Brundidge.

She was born Aug. 10, 1912, in Coffee County to the late Fletcher and Lizzie Brooks. She was a spinner at the cotton mills.

She was preceded in death by a son, James Leatherwood.

Survivors include a son and wife, Orron and Phyllis Leatherwood of Columbus, Ga.; a daughter and husband, Barnie Ree and Carlton Flowers of Brundidge; a daughter-in-law, Nita Leatherwood of Hamilton, Ga.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
