Richard &#8220Hardy” Pittman

Funeral services for Richard &#8220Hardy” Pittman, 55, of Montgomery, who died at his home Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Thaylor Maddox and the Rev. Greg Sanders officiating.

Burial will follow at Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Lee and Nelson Pittman, and his parents, James Hardy and Exie Mae Pittman.

He is survived by his wife, Gina Sims Pittman of Montgomery; three daughters, Hope (Shane) Hiatt of Phenix City, Jessica (Scott) Lowe of Highland Home and Amanda (Cory) McElwain of Highland Home; grandchildren, Chase and Reagan, John, Daniel, Dillon, Landon, Raylee, Emmy, and Ally, Sister, Brenda (Jerry) Hooks of Troy.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Freeman, Bill Jones, David Pope, Marty Coleman, Tony Pittman and James Jordan.

Memorials may be made to the Montgomery Cancer Center.

M.W. Skinner

A memorial service for M.W. Skinner, 83, who died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at Little Oak United Methodist Church in Goshen with the Rev. Andy Blackmon officiating and Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Mr. Skinner was born on March 24, 1923, in Pike County to the late Enock Marvin Skinner and Willie Estelle Worthington Skinner.

Mr. Skinner was a cattle farmer, and for sometime, he was the oldest male church member of Little Oak United Methodist Church. And he was served in the Army's 12th Calvary Division in the Philippines during World War II.

He was preceded in death by a stillborn infant son; son, Marvin Will &#8220Mark” Skinner Jr.; a brother; four sisters; a niece; and a nephew.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Madolin Skinner of Goshen; two daughters and their husbands, Allyson and Aubrey Pittman of Montgomery and Stephanie and Norman Wells of Atlanta; two sisters, Rubye Brown of Jacksonville, Fla., and Oleta Smith of Prattville; three sisters-in-law, Eloise Inman of Jacksonville, Fla., Nadine Johnson of Goshen and Frances G. Johnson of Huntsville; two brothers-in-law, Ned Johnson of Goshen and Kenneth Drinkard of Troy; one nephew, Ronald D. Jeter; six nieces, spouses and their families, Estelle Jackson, Carolyn and Johnny Weed, Frances and Robert Meyer, Linda and Keith Snyder, Shelia and Joe Floyd and Lynelle and Bobby Roy.

The family asks that friends plant a tree or flowers in their own yard in memory of Mr. Skinner instead of sending flowers to the funeral home.

Mavis Edna Eddins Kendrick

Funeral services for Mavis Edna Eddins Kendrick, 76, who died Feb. 26, 2007, in Mobile, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Chatom and at 4 p.m. at Zion Chapel Baptist Church on Highway 87 in Elba.

Burial will follow in Zion Chapel Baptist Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Chatom in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. today at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service at the First Baptist Church of Chatom as well as Zion Chapel Baptist Church in Elba.

Mrs. Kendrick was born on June 3, 1930, in China Grove. She was the wife of Dr. Paul Kendrick, who has been the director of missions for the Washington Baptist Association in Chatom for 17 years. Mrs. Kendrick was a retired bank teller for Southwest Bank in Chatom and a member of the First Baptist Church of Chatom.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Paul Kendrick of Chatom; three sons, Milton (Carol) Kendrick of Marianna, Fla., and twins Ronald (Nita) Kendrick of Montgomery and Russell (Donna) Kendrick of Monroeville; daughters, Lisa (Ronnie) Smoke of Deatsville and Candace (Dr. Don) Hines of Troy; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Thomas Kendrick, Kris Kendrick, Jonathan Kendrick, Matt Kendrick, Josh Kendrick, Lowell Thomas, David Ebarb and Daniel Ebarb.

Honorary pallbearers will be the granddaughters, Alicia Kendrick, Christi Register, Laurie Kendrick, Kimberly Thomas and Britney Asher and ministers and wives and widows of ministers.
