Joel B. Mallory

Funeral services for Joel B. Mallory, 67, of the Corinth Community of Ozark, who died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, in a Dothan hospital following an extended illness, were at 2 p.m. Monday from Corinth Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Jason Miller and Reverend S. E. Newberry officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.

Visitation was from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Mallory was born Sept. 25, 1939, in Dale County to the late Lillie Mae Bagwell Mallory and George Thomas Mallory. He graduated from Midland City High School and attended George C. Wallace Vocational Trade School where he received a degree as an optician. He worked as an optician from 1960-1962 with William G. Allen in Columbus, Ga. He was in retail management from 1963-1974 with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service at Fort Rucker and in Tuscon, Ariz. From 1974-1993 he worked for Sheffield Oil Company in Ozark and in Dothan, and from 1994-2004 he was in management with Ben F. Beard Oil Company Inc. in Ozark and Troy.

Mr. Mallory was a member of Corinth Free Will Baptist Church, where he was actively serving as church treasurer, trustee, and on the building committee.

Mr. Mallory was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Dollie Mallory and John and Aquila Bagwell his sister, Louise Mallory; and his father and mother-in-law, Josh and Mattie Lee Ward.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Annette Ward Mallory of Ozark, two daughters and their husbands,

Melonie and Ronnie Dobbs of Ozark and Melissa and Stacy Harper of Pansey; five grandchildren,

Christopher Scott Dobbs, Mallory Amanda Dobbs, Colin Tanner Dobbs,

Hunter Brent Harper and Sara Anne Harper; three brothers and their wives,

Byron T. and Zelmodean Mallory of Ozark,

the Rev. Paul and Thyra Mallory of Headland and Lewis and Emma Jean Mallory of Cowarts; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Noland Reynolds and Sue Ward and Donnice and Reva Ward of Ozark; and a special friend and business associate, Ben F. Beard of Troy.

The Corinth Free Will Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class served as honorary pallbearers.

Flowers were accepted or memorials may be made to Corinth Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 41 County Road 506, Ozark, AL 36360.

Annell Holder

Funeral services for Annell Holder, 65, of Ariton, who died in Ozark, Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Haw Hill Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Ray Stinson and the Rev. Bobby Peters officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Joy Lee; father, Robert Lee; brother, H.J. Lee; sister, Marthann Barr; daughter, Kathy McWaters; and son, John Wayne Austin.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Holder of Ariton; children, JoAnn Austin of Enterprise and Mary Ann (Wilson) Singleton of Troy; grandchildren, Selena Austin, Erica McWaters, Eric McWaters, Johnathon Chapman, Ashley (William) Ellis and Glenda (Jeremy) Cobb; great-grandchildren, Taylor Stroops, Blake Singleton, Nathan Miller, Lexie Ellis, Christopher Senn and Devin Chapman; sisters, Mary Mathis of Opp and Margaret Hamby of Brundidge.

Shirley Temple Carr

Funeral services for Shirley Temple Carr, 66, of Ariton, who died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at Dale Medical Center in Ozark were at 2 p.m. Monday at the Haw Hill Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Shirlie Ellis officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.

There was a viewing at the church for 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation was from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Burch, two brothers, Virgil and Roy Burch; and a sister, Dorothy Burch.

She is survived by her mother, Lonie Burch of Ariton; a brother and sister-in-law, Ranol and Helen Burch of Mobile; a sister, Fairley Wegmann of Ariton; a nephew, John Hayward Pipkins of Texas; and a niece, Anita (Gene) Townsend of Mobile; and numerous cousins and friends.
