The Washington Prayer March 2020 on Saturday in the nation’s capital is a dedicated prayer march that is focused solely on asking God to heal this land.

Ginny Hamm of Troy will be in the nation’s capital as a volunteer with the Washington Prayer March. She will be joined there by her sister-in-law who will come from Mississippi, also as a volunteer with the Prayer March.

“I decided to go as a volunteer because there will be plenty of marchers but not that many to work,” Hamm said. “There is so much concern about our country, our world, and to have so many people come together to pray for God’s healing hand. I wanted to be there.”

Six ladies from Sampey Memorial Baptist Church in Ramer will participate in the Prayer March that will begin at the Lincoln Memorial and end at the U.S. Capitol. At each stop along the way, the participants will pray silently for the healing of America.

“The Prayer March is being led by Franklin Graham,” Hamm said. “As he says, America is in trouble. Our communities are hurting and our people are divided. The most important thing that we can do is pray.”

The Prayer March will be from noon until 2 p.m. EDT and Hamm said several local churches will have their sanctuaries open for prayer during those hours.

“Some pastors are asking their members to pray at home or wherever they are during those hours because healing is the most important thing that we can do,” Hamm said.

Joyce Hubbard of Sampey Memorial said people from the Ramer area will gather at the church at 8 a.m. Saturday to come together in a time of prayer and as an expression of the hope that is found in God.

Hamm and Hubbard said being a part of Prayer March 2020 it is most important to them to be a part of a prayer movement to inspire repentance and the return to God and ask for His blessings.

“There, we will all be praying for our nation and its people,” Hamm said. “I know that God will hear our prayers. And the prayers of thousands.”

Hamm said she expects there to be protests throughout the weekend.

“There are always protesters in D.C.,” she said. “I will be cautious but not afraid. I am looking forward to how God is going to move through this Prayer March.”

Also in Washington, D.C. this weekend will also be “The Return” where thousands will gather on the Washington Mall to pray for America and its people.

Hamm and Hubbard said they will attend a “Return” prayer service on Friday night and possibly Saturday after the Prayer March.

“This will be a weekend where people from all across the country and from all walks of life come to pray for our nation and its people,” Hamm said. “We have never needed repentance and prayer more that we need it now.”
