If you knew Mrs. Pickett and ever had the pleasure of being a guest in her home, those two treats were guaranteed. She loved to bake all things delicious and she didn’t discriminate, either. Cookies, cakes, peanut brittle, hers were delightful, but perhaps her most memorable treat was her famous caramel cake. Count yourself lucky if you ever enjoyed a slice. Not only did Mrs. Pickett enhance the palates of many of her neighbors, she also brightened the sights on her street with a flourishing mix of flowers and landscape. Her green thumb impressed upon many passersby who would stop to marvel the fruits of her gardening labors. Mrs. Pickett is survived by her daughter, Joyce Hill (Mike) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Amanda Freke of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Stephen Hill (Stacey) of Summerville, SC, Chelsea Pickett (Matthew) of Demopolis, AL, and Charles “Trey” Pickett, III (Chandler) of Tuscaloosa, AL; great-grandchildren, Braeden Freke and Ella Grace Hill; and brother, Frank G. Wall, Jr. of McIntyre, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles R. Pickett, Sr.; son, Charles R. “Bobby” Pickett, Jr., parents, Frank G. Wall, Sr. and Thelma B. Wall; and sisters, Olene Goodson, Jane Clemons, and Lois Moore. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (322 Eighth Avenue, 16th Floor New York, New York 10001). Friends and family can sign the guestbook online at greenhillsfuneralhome.net. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Pickett family.
