Christmas will come quietly to the Pioneer Museum of Alabama this weekend. The annual Ole Time Christmas comes on the whisper of a breeze, the fluttering of falling leaves and in the distant light of a waning Full Cold Moon.

And so, it will be when at the museum from 6 until 8 p.m. tonight and Saturday.

Barbara Tatom, museum director, said everyone is invited enjoy and old-fashioned Christmas with friends and neighbors and Santa Claus and even Old Father Christmas.

“Ole Time Christmas will include special entertainment with Kat Deal inside on the museum’s Main Street,” Tatom said. “Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be our very special guests.”

Tatom said the children will have an opportunity to make a Christmas ornament to take home as a souvenir of a fun night at Ole Time Christmas or to give as a gift to someone special in their lives.

The Demonstration Cabin will be decorated with greenery and bows and fire will be going in the fireplace and just waiting to roast marshmallows. And there’s a good chance that stories will be told while the marshmallows are roasting.

The museum gift shop has old-time toys for kids and lots of gift ideas for all ages including candles, books, magnets, bags and decorated towels.

Admission is charged and the fun is free.
