Voting open for Chamber excellence awards

Who are the best businesses in Pike County in their industries?

The Pike County Chamber of Commerce is putting that question to the citizens with its annual banquet and award ceremony.

Nominations have been made and voting is open in eight categories including 2019, business of the year; excellence in hospitality, leisure and retail services; excellence in health and human services; excellence in manufacturing, industrial and logistic services; excellence in commercial and professional business services; excellence in philanthropy through nonprofit; excellence in customer service; and a new category this year, top emerging business.

“We are blessed with a very diverse economic climate here in Pike County and it’s important that we recognize these outstanding businesses in each of their areas and what they do for our community as a whole,” said Dana Sanders, Chamber president. “This is a time to let them know that the community appreciates their customer service and professional services.”

Now through April 14, Pike County residents can vote on their top businesses in each of the categories.

Nominees for excellence in hospitality, leisure and retail services are Confetti Crate, Family Ties, Flo’s Kitchen, Hook’s BBQ, Max Credit Union and Troy Parks and Recreation.

Nominees for excellence in health and human services are Family Eye Center, Jones Medical Supply and SARHA.

Nominees for excellence in manufacturing, industrial and logistic services are Golden Boy Foods and Horn Beverage.

Nominees for excellence in commercial and professional business services are Attorney Allen Jones; Blue Key Properties; Haisten, Shipman, and Wiggins; Max Credit Union; and Premier Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.

Nominees for excellence in philanthropy through nonprofit are Max Credit Union’s Max4Kids Foundation, Troy Junior Women’s League, Troy-Pike Habitat for Humanity and WOD for Water powered by CrossFit Ilium.

Nominees for excellence in customer service are Chick-fil-a, Max Credit Union, Premier Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Publix.

Nominees for top emerging business are Kimber, Neighborhood Barre, New Wave Nutrition, Premier Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Virtus Solutions.

Nominees for 2019 business of the year are Max Credit Union, Premier Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Synco Drugs, Troy Bank and Trust, Troy Regional Medical Center and Troy Cablevision.

The banquet will be held at 11:30 a.m. on May 6 at the Pike County Cattlemen’s complex

Tickets are on sale now for $30 for Chamber members. Sponsorships are also available now, including table hosting.

The featured speaker will be Katie Boyd Britt, president and CEO of the Alabama Business Council since Jan. 2, 2019.  The Enterprise native is the first female head of the organization. She previously served as chief of staff under U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Alabama.
