Troy Library presents ‘Christmas stories with Santa’

Jack Frost has made an early visit to Troy and Pike County and, since Santa Claus likes North Pole-kind of weather, he is going to make an early visit to the usually sunny South. Santa will visit the Troy Public Library Tuesday night and he is inviting all boys and girls to join him at the library for “Christmas Stories with Santa” and fun and games.

Teresa Colvin, TPL children’s librarian, said she is excited that Santa is coming to the library to read to the children and hear their Christmas wishes.

“All children love the Christmas story, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ and to hear it read by Santa himself is so very special,” she said. “Santa will read to the children at 5:30 p.m. Then, he will hear the Christmas wishes of each little boy and girl. While the other children wait for their turn to talk with Santa, we will have a variety of games for them to play and enjoy. They will also have an opportunity to make a holiday craft to take home as a remembrance of Christmas 2018.

Parents are invited to bring their cameras and take photos of their children with Santa.

Whether it’s a child’s first visit with Santa or whether the child is 12 years old, a visit with Santa is a special time and a photo will become even more special as time goes by, Colvin said.

A North Pole mailbox is available at the library for children who wish to mail their letters to Santa. Letters to Santa may be placed in the mailbox throughout the month of December.

The Troy Public Library is located at 500 East Walnut Street in downtown Troy.
