Sheriff’s deputies found 30 grams of meth, 7 ounces of marijuana and a handgun during a search warrant Wednesday evening in Banks.
Sheriff Russell Thomas said Timothy Nicholas “Nick” Brady, 39, has been arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and first-degree possession of marijuana in connection to the illegal drugs.

“The special response team executed a search warrant at his residence in Banks late Wednesday afternoon,” Thomas said. “Inside his bedroom, the located two plastic bags and a small, hard plastic container that, in total, contained 30 grams of methamphetamine. They also found three plastic bags containing a total of 7 ounces of marijuana.”

The deputies also found a .38 caliber handgun, three sets of electronic scales, a marijuana grinder and a glass smoking pipe. “All of this was recovered during the search,” Thomas said.

Brady’s bond was initially set a $50,000, but Thomas said it has been revoked due to Brady being out on another bond at the time the raid occurred.

The search warrant was executed based on “ongoing drug investigation,” Thomas said.

“We’re constantly striving to rid our county of drugs,” Thomas said. “Investigations are ongoing at all times. This should help make some difference for a while in the meth trade here.”

Thomas said getting dealers off the street is especially helpful toward tackling drug issues in the county.

“We’ve cut off the source for a lot of people,” Thomas said. “If the demand was not there, we wouldn’t have as many drugs as we’ve had. We seized a good amount of meth in another recent arrest and getting this one should help to reduce the flow of methamphetamine at least for a while. Everything you do helps. Every little bit helps make a difference.”

Brady was home when the warrant was executed and was arrested without incident and transported to the Pike County Jail.

Trafficking in methamphetamine is a Class A Felony punishable by 20 years to life in prison. There is a mandatory minimum of three years that must be served day for day in prison if convicted. There is also a mandatory fine of $50,000.

First-degree possession of marijuana is a Class C Felony punishable by 1 to 10 years in prison.
