Substation electrical conversion in Brundidge is nearing completion, City Manager Britt Thomas said at Tuesday night’s council meeting.

According to Thomas, the areas of Galloway Road, Church Street and downtown near Pinckard’s were converted, with the only areas still not being converted were the residential area near Dickert Circle and Airport Road, as well as three businesses.

Thomas said the new substation was pretty well loaded at 3.75 megawatts and was 35 percent loaded.

In other business Thomas gave the first five months of the FY2009 report.

The report comprised the time period from Oct. 1, 2008 to Feb. 28, 2009.

In local revenues, the city has accumulated $507,722, which is 45 percent of the budgeted $1,125,650.

As for state and county, the city has brought in $31,698, which is 60 percent of the budgeted $52,700.

Thomas said the reason the number is so high this early is because of a $19,000 grant for a new police department vehicle.

As for the utility fund, in the electricity category, the city has brought in $2,456,256, which is 37 percent of the budgeted amount, and is up slightly from this time last year, when the city had received $2,130,747.

In electrical expenses the city has paid out $2,117,954, which is 41 percent of the budgeted amount, and is up from $1,862,862 at the same time period last year.
