Daniel Terry Goolsby

Daniel Terry Goolsby, age 90, a former resident of Brundidge, AL, passed away on September 15, 2015 in Huntsville, AL. Services will be Saturday, September 19 at Tennille Methodist Church in Troy with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. at the church. Services will begin at 12:30 p.m. with burial following at 3 p.m. in Greenwood Serenity Cemetery in Montgomery.

Mr. Goolsby was born in Canal Point, FL to Hughey and Dewey Goolsby. He was a Navy Seal, or Frogman as they were referred to in his generation. He retired as Chief Navy Coreman and served during WWII, the Korean Conflict, and in Vietnam, where he was attached to 1st Batallion, 3rd Marines. Following a distinguished military career, Mr. Goolsby worked as an epidemiologist with the Center for Disease Control in Montgomery, AL. Retiring again after 20 years, Mr. Goolsby spent the remainder of his life among family and friends traveling, reading, supporting his favorite sports team…Troy Trojans, and generally enriching the lives of many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Goolsby of Montgomery, AL; parents; his sister, Clara Goolsby of Orlando, FL; a loving companion, Ina Ferguson of Pensaola, FL. He is survived by his brother Otto Goolsby of Orlando, FL and his adoptive family Robert and Mary Poe of Huntsville, AL.
