South Brundidge Street is the home to a new boutique catering to those who want to find the latest fashion trends in Troy for location and price convenience.

The Pink Leopard Boutique opened its doors in April just in time to provide prom dress and tuxedo purchases in addition to the casual wear, shoes, jewelry and homemade wine glass candles.

“Opening during prom season was really good for us,” co-owner Rena Elder said. “We were able to sell about 20 dresses just in that amount of time. It was good that we were able to provide for those in our community.”

The pair is both retired from the United States Military, and Elder was the inspiration behind her husband opening the store.

“I have worked in retail before and owned my own boutique previously. So, this is a way for me to still be connected to retail and provide service to shoppers,” Elder said.

The boutique has a selection of women’s clothing from girls, juniors and plus sizes, and that is something that Elder looks forward to setting The Pink Leopard apart from other stores.

“Having plus size clothing has helped us out so much in our first two months,” she said. “We constantly sell out of our plus size pieces and my candles.”

Elder said watching Youtube videos taught her how to make candles, and customers buy them just as quick as she makes them.

“Having the candles gives the boutique a more personal homemade feeling,” she said.

The homey feeling the store has extends into the customer service experience provided while shopping.

“I treat my customers just like they are my family,” she said. “When I get dressed in the morning I want to feel good about myself, and I want my customers to feel the same way wearing items that I sold to them.”

The Pink Leopard boutique will have an official grand opening event in August. The boutique is located at 1319 South Brundidge St., and customers can use the The Pink Leopard Boutique Facebook page for updates.
