Arro Disposal to hold countywide sign ups

In efforts to get the remainder of Pike County residents to sign up for solid waste disposal service, Arrow Disposal will hold two countywide service sign up days.

“We are going to have Pike County sign up day this Saturday and next Saturday from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.,” said Richard Urrutia, Arrow Disposal CEO.

Urrutia said the sign up days would be held at the Pike County Cattleman’s Association building on U.S. 231 South, and he hopes residents who are currently not signed up for service would stop by the location.

“We’re going to have big banners and a logo showing residents where and who we are,” Urrutia said. “We may have a tent depending on the weather.”

Since winning the bid, Arrow has attempted to make improvements in the county’s solid waste service, and Urrutia said the county’s response had been great.

“The response has been great,” Urrutia said. “I think we’ve had 400 or 500 sign up from those who didn’t already have service. I would love to have the remaining 900 come out, but we hope that the response continues to be good.”

Arrow has made great strides since obtaining the contract in early March, whittling the list of non-serviced customers down by some 400 to 500 county residents, and Sanders said it was encouraging to see the effort made by Arrow.

“We are encouraged at the effort that Arrow Disposal has made to ensure that all people in Pike County have access to garbage service, and we support them in their efforts,” Sanders said. “We will do everything we can to ensure a smooth transition from the previous carrier to Arrow Disposal.”

The sign up days will be Saturday, March 28 and April 4 from 8 a.m. until noon both days. Urrutia said the company was eager to begin servicing the company on Wednesday, April 1.

“Everything is going great so far, and we’re excited for the sign up days,” Urrutia said.
