The Circle City Corvette Club is made up of loyal Corvette owners who are also strong supporters of their communities, and this year the organization worked to provide support to a familiar organization to the Troy and Pike County community.

Each year, the Club makes a contribution to charitable organizations in the Wiregrass and surrounding area that have made and continue to make a positive impact on their communities.

“Club members submit names of organizations they feel are deserving of recognition and support from the Circle City Corvette Club,” said Dan Green, Club member. “This year, the Troy United Women’s League was chosen as a recipient of one of the donations.

“For the past 26 years, the Troy United Women’s League has assisted many families with food, clothing and medical expenses and utilities. The League has provided assistance to victims of fires and provided educational assistance to schools and individuals.”

Green said the Troy United Women’s League annually adopts several families for Christmas.

“The League adopts these families in an effort to help them have a joyous and memorable Christmas,” he said. “But the League’s generosity is not seasonal. Their efforts to help others are year around.”

A primary focus of the Troy United Women’s League is education. The League makes contributions to the public schools of Pike County and also to the Troy Public Library in an effort to encourage people of all ages to make reading a priority in their lives.

The League supports the Pike County Chamber of Commerce in its effort to maintain and promote local businesses and encourage economic growth throughout the county.

“The League supports the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society and other charitable organizations,” Green said. “And it is for their dedicated and continuous service to the citizens of Pike County, that the Circle City Corvette Club proudly recognized the Troy United Women’s League as one of its 2014 recipients.”

Club members, Dan and Hassie Green, presented a donation in the amount of $400 to Lee Scott, League president. Scott expressed appreciation to the Circle City Corvette Club for is generosity and its support of the Troy United Women’s League and other service organizations throughout the Wiregrass area.
